4. Institutional Research Activities: A brief review of the tentative 1999-00 Institutional Research agenda and an update on the development of P4E performance measures. (Tentative Institutional Research Agenda; Performance Measures,)

Present: Baba Adam, Robert Agrella, Donata Bohanec, Craig Butcher, April Chaney, Janet Chin, Brenda Collins, Carole Ellis, Toni Eaton, Joe Friedman, Doug Garrison, Greg Granderson, Curt Groninga, Jennifer Mann, Ricardo Navarrette, John Roberts, Deborah Sweitzer and Jack Wegman

Absent: Ed Buckley, Marty Carpenter, Alex Drake, Ann Samson

1. Institutional Planning Themes for 1999-00: Dr. Agrella introduced the 1999-00 Institutional Planning Themes: Maintaining Academic Standards through access, success and retention. These themes coincide with the Partnership For Excellence emphasis on access, success and accountability. The challenge to the institution is to maintain solid academic standards in face of the state's desire to increase student access and success and overall accountability.

Related to the themes, Doug Garrison provided an outline of the growth and retention issues challenging the college during 1999-00. (Growth Challenge)

2. 1999-00 Institutional Planning Calendar: Dr. Groninga briefly reviewed the 1999-00 Institutional Planning Council planning calendar and emphasized the key completion dates for 2000-2001 Institutional Goals, Component Area Goals and Objectives and completion of required reports. IPC members were asked to review the existing 1999-00 institutional goals and come to the September 13th meeting to discuss whether IPC will want to make any modifications, additions or deletions for 2000-01 prior to surveying the college community.

3. Partnership for Excellence: Dr. Agrella gave a brief update on P4E approved spending including such items as: outreach and marketing activities, instructional computers, CATE program funding, MESA programs allocations, etc. The President indicated he and the component administrators will provide periodic P4E updates to IPC. .

4. Institutional Research Activities: Dr. Adam discussed briefly the purpose and functioning of the institutional research operation and provided a review of the first performance outcome measure. (Attachments: Performance Measures, Transfer, Tentative Institutional Research Agenda, Developing Contingent Funding Methods),.

5. Multi-campus structure: Doug Garrison handed out the Component Administrator's memorandum on Multi-Campus Structures philosophy. IPC members are to review the document and be prepared to discuss at the September 13th meeting.
