1998-1999 Activities Report

Activities Accomplished:

  1. Department Web Pages
  2. Responding to the frustration brought to the committee regarding the process used to create department web pages, Kathy McGreevy met with various individuals to confirm existing policies, practices, and procedure. The information was documented, collated, and published for campus-wide use.

  3. Technology News column was established in the Insider
  4. The committee worked with the Public Relations department and committed to serving as the editor of this monthly publication during the school year. Information and ideas for the column centers around district technology opportunities

1. District Resource Project

Sub-committee met separately and developed a prototype for a continuously updated online resource directory. Tasks for the upcoming year will be to finalize the format and begin collecting the actual data and resource providers.

  1. Instructional Computing Issues

After receiving input from limited departments regarding the inadequacies of the current system, the ETC began a discussion around the need to establish educational requirements related to instructional computing. The committee met with the EPCC, who confirmed ETC’s role as lead coordinator in developing potential perimeters.

Although this item is listed as a committee function, no work or progress has been made, partially because of the establishment of the new Institutional Technology Group. Next year’s task is to establish a relationship with ITG and determine the future responsibilities related to the Educational Technology Plan.
