Robert’s term is up and he agreed to send an email to recruit and create a vote for a new chair for the committee.
Review of functions ......................................... Robert Ethington
It was noted last term that functions 4 and 5 were not being handled by this committee but have become a function of ITG.
Reflecting on achievements of last semester New time sessions and intensive workshops have been advocated by the ETC with PDA and new formats. David Diaz is in the works for the Spring PDA regarding Pedagogy and Online Education. Rick said that some help from ETC could be provided in the promotion of David Diaz and will confirm after they have the event set.
Feasibility of ETC ........................................... Will Baty
Will brought up a discussion on the feasibility of the committee and the current need. Discussion ensued noting many of the original functions of the committee are now covered by other committees, programs and departments.
Eric (Student rep) Also noted that the Technology is so highly integrated across all curriculum now that it doesn’t need someone to advocate awareness of it.
Bev (Last name) One of the committee functions that had been popular I the past has been defeated with the new schedule template referring to the Brown Bag trainings.
Rick Sapanaro pointed out many trainings are being done by this program but they are geared toward instructional training.
Rich Abrahams stated this committee has provided pressure and incentive go get technology integrated and going in all aspects of the campus. It was needed as a gathering place in the past for those wanting to use or learning about technology. Now it appears all have it or access to it and other venues for the training.
The committee agree to move to vote to abolish the standing of the committee.
The committee looked at each of the functions and has found they have been absorbed by other programs or committees and no longer have the same set of needs as when the committee was originally formed.
One item the committee would like followed up on is to have Rich work thorough CATE to have a resource page created with instructional websites for different disciplines and then advertise that site to faculty on campus.
