Update Computer & Network Support for Sub-committee:
Russ reported that he and Rich had met with the EPCC on March 9th for an update on the project. The committee (EPCC) gave its approval to continue with the process as establish by ETC. The draft of the survey that Baba is working on was put on hold by Curt G. until Computing Services was brought up to full speed on the content and intent. Russ reported that the subcommittee was meeting with Ken tomorrow (3-17). We think we are still on target for a release in the fall.
Russ will get the item on the Department Chair all day session in August.
Russ & Rich will do the presentation.
Student Support for Technology:
Kathy distributed service samples of FAQ that other institutions have created.

(These are unranked samples not exemplary)
Who should create ours?
Academic Computing,
Are there Matriculation funds?
Could we use a technical writing English class?
ETC supports pursuing a source of funding for the creation of pages.
On-line courses and goals related to degree:
Chuck questioned if ETC is the group to look at issue. The College is pursuing development of Distance Education and this will develop as the official program does.To date the development has all originated at departmental level. Should active role be pursued to offer the full transfer pattern via online?.
While cost is factor the loss of students is a potential threat to the college's well being. With distance learning the location of the college offering the course is no longer a factor for the student.
Some Questions that were asked were:
Is SRJC looking at this?
How do students take class at multiple colleges?
Issues around transfers and degrees at SRJC vs. outside units.
Does ETC have a continued role on this question or should it simply recommend discussions elsewhere ?
Items for next meeting:
Information competency requirements
Fall- Brown Bags,
Update- C&NSI Sub-Committee
Update- Student Technology Report (Kathy)
