Andrea Proehl and Marj Grossman distributed a document ("SRJC Information Literacy Course Requirements," May 11, 2002) that describes in detail the five standards needed for a course to meet this requirement. The Academic Senate has recommended that the requirement be implemented in Fall 2002.
Status: EPCC concurs with the Senate recommendation; Academic Affairs will follow up on the task of developing and routing policy and procedure language as needed.
3. Curriculum Update
Terri Frongia briefed EPCC on recent activities of the Curriculum Committee and distributed a number of documents. The committee met over the summer to process a number of curricular items and to implement a number of operational improvements. In the fall semester (through October 1) the committee has approved 82 new courses, and 157 course revisions. The workload continues to be high, but the process is getting more and more streamlined.
4. Revised Draft on Duplicate Degrees
Kris Futrell and Renee LoPilato distributed this draft, which elaborates on EPCCs initial discussions of this item and attempts to address various technical issues. One of areas of discussion was the method for evaluating GE courses from other schools when no comparable course exists at SRJC. The draft will undergo further revision and EPCC review.
