EDUCATIONAL PLANNING & COORDINATING COUNCIL
Minutes of January 25, 2001
3:15 PM
Senate Chambers
ATTENDING: Ed Buckley, Kris Futrell, Karen Kellam, Joan Scarborough, Rosemary Ward, Debbie Schieberl
1. Minutes of December 14, 2000
Approved
2. Update on CR/NCR Limitation
Rosemary Ward reported that this issue gets more complicated as we explore it further. Student Services staff is looking at the 24-unit limit for "optional" Cr/N Cr grades. Is it a limit for all enrollments, or is it a limit for counting towards a degree? They are also reviewing the limit of one course or 3 units per semester. Renee LoPilato, Rosemary Ward and Karen Kellam will return to EPCC with more analysis and information.
3. Academic Affairs Goals: 2000-01 and 2001-02
Ed Buckley presented the update on the 2000-01 goals and urged EPCC to support changes, revisions and additions for 2001-02.
4. Update on Revision of Final Exam Policy
Ed Buckley presented a draft policy that describes current practice rather than proposing changes. EPCC approved it in general, offering some suggestions. Ed will seek feedback from AAC, Department Chairs and Instructional Managers.
5. "Student Equity II"
Renee LoPilato announced that Student Services will request departments and programs to update their responses to the original student equity survey of several semesters ago.
6. Student Services Survey
Renee LoPilato announced that a survey of several thousand students will be distributed in classes this spring. The survey is designed to get student feedback on a variety of student services. The results will be used in the Student Services program review and the accreditation self-study.
7. Spring Break Survey
Renee LoPilato announced that faculty and students will be surveyed to determine interest in moving the Spring Break away from the traditional time aligned with the local school systems to a period closer to mid-semester. EPCC offered suggestions on the survey wording.
