What makes our program unique?

Classes that simulate the world of work
We stress practical "hands on" experiences which require students to interact with clients and work in a team setting. Certification candidates are grouped into teams comprised of a Project Manager, Designer, Programmer, and Content Developers. These teams are assigned to a non profit organization in Sonoma County. Students work together with their team and the client to plan, produce, and test a Web site. They also train the client, develop a marketing plan, and launch the site.

By working on a "real" Web site, students are exposed to situations they would encounter in the world of work. They learn about the pressures and demands of the Web development cycle. gain insight into team interaction, and discover their own interpersonal strenghts and weaknesses.

After enrolling in CIS 58.54 Web Content Practicum or 58.55 Business of Web Design students have either fallen in love with the profession or are looking for a new career. These classes go beyond traditional classroom experiences to better prepare students to succeed in the workplace.
