Graphics and Desktop: The Future in Art

The CIS department is both an Adobe Certified Training Provider and a member of the Macromedia Education Training Network. The focus of CIS classes in graphics and desktop publishing is to explore the features of the program for the general user — art, design and pre-press skills are taught in other departments at SRJC.

Beginning graphics students should consider CIS 73.11 Computer Graphics Concepts to both learn important graphics concepts and survey popular graphics programs. CIS also offers 8-hour exploration classes in Photoshop, Illustrator, and PageMaker. When new versions of software are introduced, look for short classes designed specifically to upgrade your skills.

CIS is proud of its popular series of Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady and Illustrator classes. Desktop publishing classes include Adobe PageMaker for the general user, InDesign for the serious desktop publishing user, and FrameMaker for technical writing. Many of these courses lead to several CIS Adobe certificates and map to ACE industry exams. Multimedia can be explored in coursework in Macromedia Director.
