Online Courses
We offer courses in every area of our department, whether you are planning to transfer to a four year college, complete an occupational certificate, or pursue your personal interest, we have an online course which will meet your needs.

You're probably wondering just how going to school on the Internet works. Well, each online class is slightly different, but they all have certain common features. A student can sign on any hour of the day or night, attending class when it fits his or her schedule. Students should expect to spend an average of 9 hours a week on their class studies, although some classes may require significantly more time than this.

Typically, each week the instructor sends email with introductory information on the week's topic and confirms the assignments. The instructor also posts a short lecture or elaborates on the material, and provides study guides for the current topic.

Throughout the week you work on your reading and assignments on your own, just as you would in a traditional classroom setting. You may use a class message board or email list to participate in the class discussions and ask or answer questions among your fellow students. When your assignments are due, you post them to the Internet or send them to your instructor online. Your instructor grades them and posts points and feedback.

Students taking online courses should be aware of the special environment in which they will receive instruction. For example, online courses require students to be independent learners and self-motivated. Listed below are 2 web pages we recommend you reivew before you take an online class.
