CIS Classes
Basics
We have classes that introduce the student to the Macintosh or the PC. Designed
for the absolute novice, these courses provide essential computer skills. Transfer
students may be interested in Computer Literacy and Management Info Systems.
If you need help managing your computer, CIS offers classes in Windows, Understanding
your Macintosh, and Virus Protection.
Office Applications
CIS offers a wide variety of Microsoft Office applications including word-processing,
spreadsheet, and database for the general user. Also offered are courses
in Office integration and e-mail basics.
Web
Many classes are available to help you create and manage web pages. Classes
range from designing web pages with HTML, developing an electronic portfolio,
and web project management to web authoring programs like DreamWeaver and
Adobe GoLive. You'll find high-end classes in Active Server Pages and SQL
as well as classes to help you prepare graphics for the web.
Graphics and Desktop Publishing
The CIS department is an Adobe Certified Training Provider and Macromedia Education
Training Network, ensuring that the instruction in graphics and desktop publishing
software meets industry standards. You'll find numerous Adobe programs, including
Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker, ImageReady, FrameMaker, and InDesign.
Also look for Macromedia Director and QuarkXpress.
Networking
For students desiring highly technical training in an intensive format, CIS offers curriculum in Microsoft Windows OS, Linux OS, Cisco, Forensics and Security. Some classes lead to a certificate while others prepare students for industry networking exams.
Programming
CIS offers Computer Sciences courses for the student who will transfer to a
4-year college and earn a degree. For the IT professional, courses in C++,
Java, Perl, and Visual BASIC can update existing skills.
