Objective

1.1 A master plan will be developed that clearly articulates the mission, overall goals, and planning priorities for the next five years that will facilitate student success and support the educational programs of the college. The Vice President of Student Services will lead a broad-based task force of managers, faculty, staff and student leaders through a planning process that will respond to the results of Program Review, the Institutional Planning agenda, component operational goals and emergent student needs. The master plan will identify specific facility, programmatic, technological, human resource, and budgetary implications.

Improve and expand the implementation of student recruitment, outreach and community relations action plans.

2.1 Through coordinated outreach plans within the Student Services component, and in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Public Relations, specific activities will be implemented at School sites and community locations that enhance student access to SRJC.

3.0 Organizational Structure

Evaluate the organizational structure of Student Services and recommend modifications that improve internal communication, accountability for student development and success and cost effective resource distribution.

3.1 Under the direct leadership of the Vice-President, an ad-hoc task force involving staff and Student Services managers will conduct a formal assessment of the current organizational structure. The results of Program Review, Master Planning, and changes in other district component structures will be incorporated in the process. Cost implications, direct benefit to students, and alignment with institutional goals will be clearly identified.

Through instructional activities and support services, expand and implement programs that address the goals and objectives outlined by the SRJC Matriculation Plan and Partnership for Excellence.

4.1 The Counseling Department will seek to increase student retention rates by increasing the scope of the Early Alert Program.

4.2 The Counseling Department will seek to reduce the number of students dismissed from the College at the conclusion of the 1999-2000 academic year.

4.3 The Career Center, Reentry Program,. and Counseling Department will seek to increase student persistence rates by offering career interest testing workshops, transfer majors information and occupational information to prospective and continuing students during the three weeks prior to the start of the Fall semester.

4.4 The Counseling Department, Scholarships Office, and other Student Services will seek to provide additional services to students attending classes at the Petaluma Campus through the use of technology.
