REVIEW OF MINUTES ~

The minutes of March 18, 2001 were reviewed. No corrections were made.

STRATEGIC ENROLLMENT PLANNING DRAFTS & WORKING SESSION~

Review of Draft Schedule Development Section of Strategic Enrollment Plan

A revision draft of the schedule development section of the Strategic Enrollment Plan was distributed and read. The Strategic Enrollment Plan, as discussed at the Component Administrators meeting this week, will ideally assist in the development of enrollment goals while informing college component operational goals. The applicable agreed upon ‘data elements’ will be listed once in the overall report and referred to within each section as appropriate.

Ed’s focus for the StEP plan is schedule development and determining how effective we are in developing our course offerings. He cautions against the focus of the plan becoming too large. Institutional reports are far-reaching and probably broader than the SteP Plan itself. The committee should adhere to its original objective and then allow the ‘plan’ to naturally expand within the various groups throughout the college. It was agreed that the StEP plan would not serve as an institutional effectiveness report.

Doug and KC will compile a list of what data elements have been suggested by the committees well as their source(s), and then subsequently determine how the information is to be presented. The information/analyses should be brief and representative of a specific period of time, followed by conclusions and recommendations. The StEP plan will be presented to the Academic Senate, Academic Affairs, IPC, student services managers etc. Subsequent years would entail updating the original data elements. Developments from the first year’s report would then be a natural attachment to next year’s report.

The StEP plan should generate questions within the departments for further consideration in their PEP process.

Doug and KC agreed to compile the relevant data elements and prepare a draft report.

The next meeting of the StEP Committee will be on May 6, at 3:30 p.m. in the RACE Building Room 4061.
