Program Profile*

Department or Program: _________________________________________

Cluster/Area: __________________________________________________

Assistant Dean/ Program Director: _____________________ ext. _________

Department Chair or program coordinator ___________________________

Note: This profile would be created by the Assistant Dean or Program Director in consultation with the program, using information derived from the PEP's as well as other data. A program is a group of like courses or disciplines having a distinct identity for which planning makes sense. The profile is intended to build on the work of the PEP's and summarize planning issues in the foreseeable future. These profiles would be placed in the Integrated Master Plan binder.

Program Overview

Mission: Provide the mission statement of the program.

Description: Briefly describe the program, its purpose, and the kinds of students served by the program. (For example, does the program serve general education students, students seeking certificates, students seeking personal enrichment, re-entry, non-English speakers, day or evening etc. )

Enrollment trends

Provide a brief summary of enrollment trends in the department or program, including FTES trends over past five years (attach data if relevant):

Educational Environment: Briefly describe any changes in the educational environment that will impact this program, for example new general education requirements, new CSU or UC transfer requirements, new state mandates or regulations, licensing, or tech-prep connections.

External Environment: Briefly describe major external factors that will impact this program over the next 5 years (such as changes in technology, changes in workplace, or external factors identified by advisory committees).

Curriculum Trends

Briefly describe new or revised curriculum likely to be developed within the next 5 years, particularly curriculum that will require facilities modifications, special equipment, or longer-range planning.

Staffing

Based on the PEPs and other available data, identify staffing needs in the foreseeable future:

Faculty

¥ Number of Current full-time faculty:

¥ Number of Current part-time faculty:

¥ Ratio of % load FT: % load PT (available from instructional load report)

¥ List of all full-time faculty staffing requests identified by department at this time .

¥ Anticipated retirements (faculty aged 55 and older).

¥ Estimate of NEW (not replacement) faculty staffing needs (5 years)

Classified:

¥ List all classified staffing requests active at this time.

¥ Classified staffing needs likely to be created by changes in curriculum, program growth, or new sites/facilities. (Note: do not try to estimate positions needed because of normal, overall growth)

Facilities and equipment:

Based on the PEP's, knowledge of departments and programs, scanning of the educational and external environment, and a knowledge of Institutional-level and component-level goals:

1) Identify problem areas or inadequacies in existing facilities.

2) Briefly describe major modifications needed to facilities or additional instructional spaces needed over the next 5 years.

3) Focus on describing needs, not necessarily suggesting solutions. Include cost estimates, if available, but do NOT seek out detailed estimates at this time. For projects identified as higher priority, more detailed plans and cost estimates will be sought later.

4) Include a brief summary of major equipment purchases that will be part of a facilities request, a remodel, or a major investment in upgrading equipment. Do NOT list here routine annual equipment requests or replacement of existing worn equipment unless they represent a substantial investment (over $25,000).
