RE: 2000/2001 Institutional Goals
Following the annual institutional planning process, the Institutional Planning Council is seeking college community input as to the development of the 2000/2001 Santa Rosa Junior College goals. All college community members and specific shared governance committees and groups (EPCC, BAC, DFPC, College Council, Academic Senate, Classified Senate and Management Team) are requested to review the 1999/00 Institutional Goals and make their thoughtful responses to IPC by October 11th.
An institutional goal is a statement which sets forth a long-term, generalized direction toward which the institution should move, in some cases specific targets may be adopted. Institutional goals, though long-term in nature, will be reviewed annually and, if necessary, revised. One can view the college's institutional plan as consisting of the following: institutional vision (developed by the Board of Trustees and the President), institutional goals, institutional mission (revised every five years) and the component operational goals. Whereas the institutional goal is long-term and more generalized, the component operational goals is a planned path to activate the institutional mission and goals. The component administrator's operational goals establishes a desired outcome for a specific component area (Academic Affairs, Administrative Services, Business Services, Petaluma Campus, President's Office and Student Services) and delineates an operational relationship to adopted institutional goals.
IPC's role is to ensure: a) effective planning; b) effective participation in planning by all who are affected by the plans; c) the college community is informed and educated about major plans and goals; d) college community suggested institutional planning issues are considered, and; establish an institutional planning theme or priority of goals each year.
