1.0 Academic Affairs will continue to develop critical educational initiatives related to linking workforce preparation and economic development, student achievement awards, pre-collegiate basic skills, and the quality and coherence of the Associate Degree.

Objective

1.1 The Dean, of Instruction, Economic Development and Workforce Education and Training shall develop, implement, and maintain a plan to support initiatives in education reform, workforce preparation and economic development which ensures services are delivered to clients in a more responsive, integrated, and effective manner.

1.2 To encourage as they commit to course work to meet workforce preparation goals, Academic Affairs will examine the number and variety of programs leading to formal certification and other forms of recognition.

1.3 To assess and improve the quality of pre-collegiate basic skills programs across the disciplines, Academic Affairs will report on the number and types of offerings in basic skills, evaluate student performance and progress, and identify research issues considered important by faculty in these areas.

1.4 In support of the College's efforts to strengthen the quality and coherence of the Associate Degree, Academic Affairs will work with the Academic Senate and other groups to design and implement procedures related to the new Board policies on general education and the majors requirement.

2.0 Academic Affairs will implement changes as needed in its organizational structure and operations based on the review and evaluation conducted in the Spring 1999 semester.

2.1 Changes will be implemented with the goal of improving over all effectiveness in supporting the instructional program, communication and trust, administrative and department chair workloads, training and support needs, procedural and infrastructure problems, and clarity in administrative and faculty roles.

3.0 Academic Affairs will both continue and expand the programs and services at the Coddingtown Mall.

3.1 As it negotiates a new lease, the District will explore securing additional square footage at the present site without incurring additional costs to the general fund budget.

3.2 The BOT Open Entry/Open Exit (OE/OE) program now housed in Maggini Hall will be moved to CTM Room 1. (Asst Dean, Bus, Ag & Comp Sci and BOT Department)

3.3 CIS will develop a program in computer networking, to be housed at Coddingtown. (Assistant Dean, Bus, Ag & Comp Sci and CIS Department)

3.4 Contingent on securing additional space, a training room plus an administrative office for Contract Education will be provided at Coddingtown. (Director, Economic Development)

3.5 Contingent on securing additional space, selected classes now assigned to the Santa Rosa campus will be reassigned to Coddingtown. Such a reassignment will result in net new FTES for the District. (Academic Affairs administration and programs)
