ACADEMIC SENATE GOALS

2000 - 2001

Curriculum Goals

  1. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to develop a procedure and mechanism for participating in the design of the Educational Master Plan.
  2. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to examine the instructional issues of online courses and the integration of Educational Technology throughout the District.
  3. Institutional Communication Goals

  4. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to identify and provide recommendations that support and improve electronic communication for faculty.
  5. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to identify and provide recommendations that support development of a technology plan for the District.
  6. Classroom Utilization

  7. The Senate will work with campus constituencies in assuring that the campus develop a technology plan that includes creating a standardization of technology, upgrades existing hardware and software, improves access to computer and other labs on campus.
  8. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to study and improve space utilization and identifies available space during specific days and times.
  9. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to assure that facilities are modernized, heated, cooled and a suitable work environment for staff and students.
  10. Scheduling Goals

  11. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to evaluate the impact of the new template in terms of student success statistics and overall educational impact to assure its effectiveness in improving educational goals.
  12. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to study the feasibility of developing alternate faculty schedules including early evening, late evening, and weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday).
  13. The Senate will be inclusive in representing the needs of all faculty both adjunct and regular faculty.
  14. The Senate will work with campus constituencies in developing an all college hour or other methods to assure that faculty have time available for committee meetings thus assuring strong faculty participation in the college's governance system.
  15. Faculty Needs/Goals

  16. The Academic Senate will work with campus constituencies in assuring that faculty workload assignments and support services are in accordance with AB 1725 and AFA Contract. This would include, but is not limited to office space, equipment, cyber technology, mentoring, instructional skills training, and classified support staff.
  17. The Senate will work with campus constituencies to assure that faculty are involved in the decision making process at all institutional levels.
  18. Diversity and Equity on Campus

  19. The Academic Senate will work with campus constituencies to assure that diversity and equality are a priority regarding hiring and recruitment practices, curriculum development and diversity awareness programs.
