1.0 Academic Affairs will continue to develop and assess progress on critical educational initiatives:

•the linkage of workforce preparation and economic development;

•the development of additional programs leading to formal certification or recognition to complement the degree and certificate programs;

•the assessment and improvement of developmental education programs and services across the disciplines;

•the development of an institutional plan for off campus and weekend programs.

Objective

1.1 The Dean of Instruction, Vocational Education, Workforce Training and Economic Development, shall develop a revised version of "KnowledgeWorks," the plan to support workforce preparation and economic development, and present it to the Institutional Planning Council for approval and direction as to its implementation.

1.3 To assess and improve the quality of developmental education programs across the disciplines, Academic Affairs will report on the number and types of offerings in developmental education, evaluate student performance and progress, and identify research issues considered important to faculty in these areas.

1.4 The Assistant Dean of Instruction, Business, Computer Science, Off Campus and Weekend Programs will work with the Dean of Instruction, Educational Programs and Services, as well as department chairs and supervising administrators, to develop an institutional plan for off campus programs, courses, and services (including Coddingtown), and to increase off-campus and weekend credit FTES by 5% in the Spring 2001 semester, compared to Spring 2000.
