Artist Statement

The core of my teaching involves a strong center of formal techniques in methods and materials coupled with a base of gestural liveliness and conceptual methodologies. The teaching not only explains how to manipulate the materials, but also how to "wrap their head around" the task. I use a wide array of demonstrational techniques in constructing a drawing that not only has the structure, but also an implied movement. This combination of methods along with theproblem-solving process ofdefining the tasks and explainingproblems and solutions enables the students to grasp and execute successful life drawing.
