Jean Horton, Untitled Artist StatementThis small piece is one in a series of painted meditations that explore my inner landscape, both dark and light. Painting for me, is silent poetry. Teaching PhilosophyI have a profound love of paint and color, and of encouraging others to find meaning and empowerment through art and creativity. I am passionate about my subject (art) and spreading the joy and magic of painting and self-expression to all of my students - beginning through advanced - although I believe the approach of humility and always “being a beginner” is the best place to be always, at least for me. It is the myriad of connections: between teacher and students, students and students, student and artwork, and artwork and the classroom community that gives such meaning and depth to my work. I love to encourage students to have fun, to play, to find their unique voice: to be alive.
