Placement Tests: English, Math and Chemistry
The Placement Tests are designed to assess the current reading, writing,
math and chemistry skills of new and continuing students wanting
to enroll in an English, Math, or Chemistry course while attending
Santa
Rosa Junior
College (SRJC). The results from your placement tests determine
your eligibility to enroll in courses that are appropriately matched
to
your skill level.

Assessment Services will accept placement test results from other 2-year
colleges
for evaluation.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Placement Test
ESL Placement Testing is offered
at the Assessment Services Centers on the Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses, http://www.santarosa.edu/app/placement/English-as-Second-Language/.
An appointment is required for the ESL Placement Test at the Santa Rosa Campus; contact
the ESL Testing Specialist for more information at (707) 527-4881. No appointments
are necessary at the Petaluma Campus, and drop-in is available on specific days and
times. For information regarding ESL testing at the Petaluma Campus call (707) 778-3908.

Algebra Competency Exam (ACE)
The Intermediate Algebra Competency Exam (ACE) is offered to students new to Santa
Rosa Junior College (SRJC) who need to fulfill the SRJC math requirement for an
Associate Degree. The ACE is a 30 question exam with a time limit of 2 hours and
45 minutes. The test covers topics from intermediate algebra. Non-graphics calculators
are provided, but graphing calculators are not allowed. Please be advised that this
exam is not transferable, and it is not part of the math course sequence. Students
will be allowed to attempt the exam twice per term. In the event that a student
does not pass the exam on the first attempt, a personalized study plan and review
material will be provided within the online testing program to assist in preparation
for the second attempt. This student plan will be available for 16 weeks. The ACE
is not a Placement Test. In addition, the ACE does not apply to the SRJC math course
sequence, and it is not transferable.

Graduation Math Competency Exam (GMCT)
The Math Competency Exam is offered to students ready to graduate
and who have not fulfilled the SRJC Math requirement for
the A.A./A.S. degree. A
score of 24 out of 40 is required to pass this exam. Students who do not achieve
a passing score will be allowed to retest in the
following Fall, Spring, or Summer term. Students who are currently enrolled in an
SRJC course may drop-in to the College Skills Department for tutoring and instruction.
The GMCT is not a
Placement Test. In addition, the GMCT does not apply to the SRJC math
course sequence, and it is not transferable.

Ability to Benefit Test (ATB)/Wonderlic
Students, who are interested in receiving financial aid,
must take the ATB/Wonderlic test if they do not have a high school
diploma
or GED.
To make an appointment
to take the ATB/Wonderlic test please contact one of the Assessment
Services Centers. On the day of the test you will be required
to show

GED (General Educational
Development) Tests
Proctoring Services for Distance Learning Exams
Contact Assessment Services at (707) 527-4661 to schedule
an appointment to have a Distance Learning exam proctored
at SRJC. Proctoring

High School Advanced Placement Exam
If you have taken the Advanced Placement exams and your test scores are 3 or higher,
you are exempt from taking the placement test. Complete a Prerequisite
Equivalency Form and submit it to Admissions and Records.
You are strongly encouraged to consult with a counselor about Campus specific provisions
for AP credit.
High School Placement Testing
Assessment Services visits several high schools and
administers the English, and Math placement tests
to their seniors
during the spring
semester. Please

Evaluation of Placement Test Results from
Other Two-Year Colleges
Placement test results from other two-year colleges
