In fall 2007, students from SRJC’s Learning Communities answered several survey questions about their experiences in SMART START, FYE, or PUENTE. We know that by participating in a Learning Community, you will also benefit in many positive ways. First Year Experience QUOTES
I highly recommend the FYE class for beginning students because the class not only provides a solid learning foundation, it is helpful in moving to the next level class. It also guides students to know everything from financial help to learning support, which is essential to students’ success. Take my advice; if you take this class you will never regret it! Shierley Rodriguez
The First Year experience is a hidden gem that helps students get settled into the college environment. The learning community is a strong support system that many students can benefit from. Jason Freyer
Don’t let this experience go to waste. I have never had so much fun and learned so much in a class. The friendships you make are ones you will never forget. I recommend this for everyone. Jarrett Rodriguez
Taking this program made it clear what true values I hold. Cameron Burgess
FYE was beneficial to me because it was easy to build friendships and spend more than one class period with those people. I strongly recommend the program for incoming freshman. Elena Wedlake
