1.1 The Dean, of Instruction, Economic Development and Workforce Education and Training shall develop, implement, and maintain a plan to support initiatives in education reform, workforce preparation and economic development which ensures services are delivered to clients in a more responsive, integrated, and effective manner.

Using CFPID and other funds, faculty will be encouraged to receive appropriate training and design non-traditional pathways to meet identified workforce preparation needs. 1.4 In support of the College's efforts to strengthen the quality and coherence of the Associate Degree, Academic Affairs will work with the Academic Senate and other groups to design and implement procedures related to the new Board policies on general education and the majors requirement.

1.4.1 In consultation with the Academic Senate, the G.E. Subcommittee of the Curriculum Committee will establish criteria and procedures for the review of new courses for inclusion in the AA/AS GE pattern.

1.4.2 All courses currently listed on the AA/AS GE pattern will be reviewed in light of the newly-established criteria and the Board-approved General Education Statement of Philosophy.

1.4.3 An Ad Hoc Committee on Major Requirements will develop Board procedures for the development of majors.

1.4.4 Procedures and guidelines will be reviewed by the Academic Senate and forwarded to College Council. Once approved by College Council, the procedures will be forwarded to the Board for review.

1.4.5 Using the newly-approved procedures, departments will develop majors (and any new curriculum required for the major) and submit them to the Curriculum Committee for approval.

1.4.6 Majors shall be implemented.
