The following faculty member has been elected to serve on the AFA Executive Council:
Adjunct Faculty
DEIRDRE FRONTCZAK, Philosophy
* SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL VACANCY
Last year, AFA members voted to increase the adjunct faculty representation on the AFA Executive Council by two seats, the first with an initial full two-year term starting in 2012-13 and the second with an initial full two-year term starting in 2013-14. The first seat was filled as one of the four 2012-13 adjunct seats in the AFA regular election in February, and the second seat will be filled in the February 2013 regular election.
To bring adjunct Council representation up to full strength as soon as possible, the Council approved a "transitional" one-year term for the second new adjunct seat on the Council. This transitional term will begin in Fall 2012, and it will end when the second seat's full-term begins in August 2013. AFA Bylaws allow this new seat to be filled either by Council appointment or by Membership special election (AFA Bylaws Article II Section 6B). On March 14, adjunct faculty members of the AFA Executive Council recommended that this seat be filled by special election, and this recommendation was approved by the Executive Council.
