Topic Summary

  1. Pick up phone handset and dial 4999 (If off campus dial 527-4999 or 778-3999)
  2. From your own extension the voice mail system will answer “Hello mailbox___ or your recorded name” enter your passcode and you will be logged into your vm.
  3. If you have a phantom mail box or if you calling from another phone other than your own you will hear 1 of 3 recordings. Just press the star (*) and you will hear “Welcome to the message center…” after it answers enter your mailbox number followed by the star key (*) and your passcode.
  4. If you are calling from off campus the message center will answer you will then enter your mailbox number followed by the star * key and your passcode.
  5. If there are unplayed messages in your mailbox, you must listen to them first and then you may continue with the steps to change your greeting.
  6. Press the number 8 key to enter User Options
  7. Press the number 4 key to enter into Greeting Menu… press 7 to record or press the 9 key to exit back to User Options
  8. When you have completed your recording press the # (pound key) and then the 7 key. The pound key stops the recording and the 7 key will allow you to hear your recording for review.
  9. If you need to re-record and start over press the 3 key to discard and re-record your greeting. Follow step 8 to review recording.
  10. To accept your new greeting press the 9 key and you will hear “Greeting Changed” press 9 once again to exit the system and then hang up.
  11. To change your name follow the same directions except on #7 you will press the 6 key for “Name”


You may change your greeting at anytime and from anywhere. It is a good idea to change your voicemail greeting when you are going on vacation, on sabbatical, ill or anytime when you will be out of the office for an extended period of time.
