Application downtime for Database Upgrade

The Information Technology department will be performing systems maintenance on our SIS Database server, which must be done before fall semester starts. On Friday, August 1, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:50 p.m., all services provided by the SIS Database server will be unavailable. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will post status updates on the IT web site to keep everyone informed.

When: Friday, Aug.1, 12:01 AM to 11:50 PM
Where: All SRJC sites will be affected

Who is Impacted:

All individuals who utilize the affected services, on-campus or remote, during the maintenance window, will be affected.

What you need to do:

If you plan to utilize any of the affected services during the scheduled maintenance window please make new arrangements.  Otherwise no action is required on your part.

Connectivity outage

Some of the buildings and some services (including online) may have lost connectivity today (Sunday) when a routing loop caused a failure in many of these connections.  This occured at approximately 1 o'clock this afternoon and lasted for about 45 minutes when IT personal arrived on site to fix the problem.  Services were immediately restored and the buildings were restored one by one.  The loopguard feature which triggered the failure has since been disabled and IT is investigating the root cause.

Network Alert

The following is a network status message updated at 10:55am on Friday May 16th:

SRJC currently experiencing an issue with our core network switch – which is resulting in the inability of users throughout the district, on all campuses to login and/or access the internet. This may effect users off campus trying to access certain services hosted at the college as well. Network technicians are currently on the phone with our vendor, and working toward resolution as quickly as possible. There is no estimated time of repair at this time.

Voice Mail reminders

SRJC Voice Mail System Upgrade: Complete

Important: ID = Mailbox #, PIN = Passcode

 

UPDATE:

 

·       Reminder – Friday April 4th is the deadline for logging into the retired voice mail system to check for saved or un-played messages. Dial 7999 from on campus or 521-7999 from off campus.

 

·       User distribution lists (Private Lists) successfully migrated over to the new voice mail system.  If you used this feature, you will not need to reprogram them in the new system. For information regarding this feature, please visit the IT support website at www.santarosa.edu/it/support/phones under “Voicemail Tips and Tricks” or the “Voicemail User Guide”

 

Greetings College Community welcome back from Spring Break

The IT department completed the voice mail system upgrade over spring break.  The Santa Rosa Junior College voicemail system subscriber mailboxes and departmental trees were successfully migrated over to the new Cisco Unity Connection voice mail system. 

 

  • For clarification on individual mailbox greetings: Your greeting and PIN were migrated over to the new voice mail system and the access number (527-4999), will remain the same.  Messages in the retired voice mail system were not migrated over so you will need to login and check for any un-played messages. The retiring voicemail system will remain active until Friday April 4, 2014, so please log into the old system and check for messages.  The number to access the retiring voice mail system is 707-521-7999 or 7999 from on campus. When the system answers, follow the prompts and input your mailbox number and PIN. 

Note: If your message waiting indicator does not go off after listening to messages on the new voicemail system, you will need to log into the old system (x7999) and check for messages there as well.

 

·         New Voice Mail System (Cisco Unity Connection) and Office 365 Users: The new voicemail system offers unified integration with our Office 365 email system.  When you receive a new voice mail you will also receive this message within your email as an attachment.  This unified integration allows you to listen and delete the message from within your email client.  Deleting the email will also delete the voice message from the voice mail system and turn off the message waiting indicator on your campus phone.

      Below are the new steps to login into voice mail on the new system:

 

Access voice mail from your phone:

• Dial 4999 or press the messages button (envelope)

• Enter pin (passcode) followed by # (pound)

 

Access voice mail from another phone:

• Dial 4999 or press the messages button (envelope)

• Press * (star)

• Enter your ID (mailbox number) then # (pound)

• Enter your PIN (passcode) then # (pound)

 

Access voice mailbox from off campus:

• Dial (707) 527-4999

• When the system answers press * (star)

• Enter your ID (mailbox number) then # (pound)

• Enter your PIN (passcode) then # (pound)

 

NOTE: When you log into your mailbox the voice mail system will automatically play any new messages first. Once that is complete, you have several options that will be presented to you

Routine IT System Maintenance - Wednesday, March 26th, 2014

The Information Technology department will be performing routine systems maintenance on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014.  Throughout the evening there will be brief interruptions, typically  lasting no more than 5-10 minutes. The following services may be affected:

Notice: After Hours Telephone Service Maintenance

The IT Department has been notified of two maintenance windows in which the vendor that provides our telephone service will be performing maintenance on their equipment which is expected to cause the SRJC sites listed below to lose telephone service for a brief period during the maintenance window.

Wednesday, March 19 – Thursday, March 20
Windsor Public Safety Training Center
11:00pm (3/19) until 5:00am (3/20)


Integra (Telephone vendor) will be performing a software upgrade on networking equipment that is expected to interrupt phone service for 10-15 minutes sometime during the maintenance window. Staff working on the Petaluma or Windsor/PSTC campuses in the late night/early morning hours on the dates identified above, are encouraged to carry a cell phone, should they have a need to reach District Police during the very brief telephone outage.  District Police can be reached at (707) 527-1000.

Please distribute this notice to any staff expected to be working during these maintenance windows, to ensure they are notified of the potential service interruption.

Reminder March 4th deadline for greeting changes and phone tree changes

Campus Community:

Reminder that today is the last day for greeting changes and phone tree changes until we are on Cisco Unity.  Greetings that are on the old voice mail system tomorrow will migrate over to Cisco Unity along with everyone’s passcodes.  The voice mail system phone number will be the same 4999 or 527-4999.

Notice: After Hours Internet Service Maintenance - 3/13/14 12am-6am

The IT Department has been notified of a maintenance window in which the vendor that provides our internet connection will be performing maintenance on their equipment which may cause the SRJC sites listed below to lose telephone and/or Internet connectivity during the maintenance window.

Thursday, March 13, 2014
Connection between Santa Rosa & Petaluma Campuses
12:00am-6:00am


Comcast (Internet/Network connection vendor) will be performing scheduled maintenance that is expected to interrupt network connectivity between the Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses.  SRJC maintains a backup link for this connection and we expect that once the maintenance begins, our connection will fail-over to the backup link.  Although the backup link provides a slower connection, due to the time of day (12 midnight) we do not expect any impact on college operations.

Please distribute this notice to any staff expected to be working during these early-morning maintenance windows, to ensure they are notified of the potential service interruptions.
