Updated: Improved wireless access for mobile devices

SRJC Community:

In an effort to offer more functionality to SRJC staff and faculty members with personal mobile devices, the Information Technology department is pleased to introduce a more flexible wireless network to address these technology needs.

Unlike the publicly available student wireless network, this network offers encryption and always-on connectivity without requiring an acceptable use policy agreement each time connecting.

If you have a personal mobile device (smart phone, tablet) and wish to take advantage of this wireless network, you may now sign up online:

Please note that this new wireless network does not expand the footprint of our existing coverage, but rather enhances the user experience by creating a more secure and seamless environment.

If you have a personal mobile device (smart phone, tablet) and wish to take advantage of this wireless network, please bring your device to the Information Technology help desk to register it, and we will provide you with connectivity information. An automated online registration process is being designed, but until this is in place, a walk-in visit is necessary. The help desk is located in Bussman Hall, room 1434.

Please note that this new wireless network does not expand the footprint of our existing coverage, but rather enhances the user experience by creating a more secure and seamless environment.

More general information about SRJC wireless, including wireless coverage, can be found at http://www.santarosa.edu/it/support/wireless/.

Thank you and we hope this added functionality is a benefit to those who use it.

Slow Internet connection for all campuses this morning

SRJC Community,

Around 8:00 this morning, the Information Technology department was informed of a failure in the regional network. Our Internet Service Provider (ISP) explained that an equipment failure occurred in the AT&T's San Francisco hub. The failure caused our systems to fall back on the much slower contingency circuit. Although we do not have an ETA on the repair, these issues are often taken care of very quickly. We should be back at full speed in the next few hours.

Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE: As of 9:00 AM our primary Internet circuit is back online. AT&T have completed the repair.
