Beginning March of 2003, Computing Services began to support OS X on the
Santa Rosa Junior College campuses. Apple's OS X is a revolutionary new OS that
incorporates stability and security for the local system, and greater compatibility
with network connections and applications. OS X is quite different from OS 9 (also
known as the Classic system) and Computing Services has provided this web page
as a resource for FAQ's, quick reference guides, and level of support.
TigerTips (new!)Quick Reference & FAQ'sLevel of supportComputing Services maintains the same type of support for OS X that we do for other supported operating systems on campus. We support addition and troubleshooting of supported hardware, peripherals, and software. Hardware support is only available for the warranty lifetime of the computer. Check the warranty sticker or call the help desk for more information. Because Apple is in a transition period between Classic mode (OS 9) and OS X, there will be some issues with certain Classic mode applications. When these issues arise, we will do our best to resolve the problems, however sometimes the only course of action is to wait until a similar program or upgrade to the Classic mode application is available and falls under our support. Current software that SRJC supports under OS X:Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar), 10.3 (Panther), and 10.4 (Tiger), Microsoft Office 2004 (Including Entourage 2004 - the replacement for Outlook 2001), Microsoft Outlook 2001, the Adobe CS2 suite of applications (Including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat), WRQ Reflection, ICA Citrix (Financial 2000), and Apple's iLife suite (limited support).
