Begin by clicking on the Apple Icon on the top left side of your desktop. Move the mouse down to Control Panel without clicking. A new menu will open to the right. Move the mouse over to Remote Access in the new window and click (as seen below).
This will open up the Remote Access Control Panel. Once you have this window open, look up at the toolbar on the top left (with the Apple Icon). You should see File, Edit, Remote Access, and Help. Click on Remote Access and then TCP/IP (as seen below).
This will open TCP/IP (shown below). Configure TCP/IP exactly as you see below. To do this, you first will want to click Connect via and choose PPP. Below that is the Configure pull-down menu. Select Using PPP Server. At the bottom you will want to add in the Name Server Addresses (DNS) exactly how they are listed. Lastly, add santarosa.edu to the Additional Search Domains window.
After verifying that you've typed everything correctly, close the TCP/IP control panel by clicking on the close box in the upper left corner of the window. You'll be presented with a Save Changes dialogue box (as seen below). Click Save.
This will bring you back to the Remote Access window. Here you will put in your Username (Your UNIX name, plus .ppp), Password, and Local Dial Up Number.
Once this is completed, verify everything is correct (remembering that usernames and passwords are Case Sensitive). Now click on the Options button at the bottom. This will bring up the Options menu (pictured below).
Here you need to click on the Protocol tab. Next, put a check on the top check box (as pictured above). Your window should match the one above. Click OK.
Lastly, you will need to close the Remote Access window. Do this by clicking on the box in the upper left of the Remote Access window. You will be promted to Save Changes (as below). Click Save.
Congratulations! You are now ready to surf the internet. Just open Internet Explorer, Netscape, or the browser of your choice. Your Mac will know to dial.
