Placement
Tests & Study Guides
Taking your placement tests is another important step to enrolling at SRJC. There is no pass or fail on these tests. The tests are required if you plan to enroll in a math, English or chemistry course. They also give you and your counselor an idea about your skill level in these areas so you can choose courses that are challenging but not too easy nor too hard.
- Taking placement tests is the first step students take to begin SRJC.
- An assessment of each student's skills in reading, math and chemistry will assure success in college courses.
- Counselors use your assessment scores to help you choose classes that are compatible
with your skill level. In addition, counselors use other measures such as your high
school academic history, work schedule, etc. to help you with your choice of classes.
- If you plan to take a math, English or chemistry course, you must take the assessment tests.
- Study guides for the placement tests are available online.
- SRJC will accept English, math and chemistry placements
from other community colleges. Contact Assessment Testing & Services at (707)
527-4661 for information or talk with your counselor.
