Up and Attend Orientation
Understanding how SRJC works is critical to your success. We
have found that it takes almost a year for our students to be comfortable with college.
Orientation gives you the information you need to know before you get started. We
also know that students complete an orientation, tend to be more successful in college.
Attending an orientation is a very wise choice.
- Our orientations are for students new to SRJC - whether
this is your first college experience or you're transferring in from
another college, our orientations are for you.
- Our orientations are designed
to give a brief, but important overview of information necessary to
successfully enroll in classes at SRJC. You'll learn how to register,
how to pick
courses which will help you achieve your educational goals, and pick
up some great tips on how to study better and do well in our college
environment.
- Transfer students learn about the uniqueness of SRJC -
about policies and procedures, high standing among colleges
and universities, and how to understand our college community.
We have several options for you depending on your availability:
- Counseling 370 - a .5 unit course that
is the most thorough introduction to SRJC. This 8 hour course covers a multitude
of topics designed to help you be successful in your classes. It covers registration,
course selection, testing, study skills, and a tour of the campus. You will also
learn about requirements for certificates, degrees, and transfer. Call the Counseling
Office at the Petaluma Campus (707) 778-3914 or the Santa Rosa Campus (707) 527-4689
for times and dates or view the Counseling
370 schedule online.
-
Orientations for New & Returning Adult Students - an overview
of enrollment procedures, vocational certificates, AA to transfer, assessment,
financial aid, career resources, campus familiarity. Wednesdays at 10 AM & 5:30 PM
in the Adult Reentry office, located in Plover
Hall.
- Online Orientation - an online orientation that covers
a great deal of information about Santa Rosa Junior College, and can be completed
wherever you can access the Web. It is very thorough and will give you a solid foundation
of how to be a successful student here at the College. Go to Online
Orientation.
Call (707) 537-4375 for more information about orientations and other services provided
